First Christian Church

Located on the northeast corner of Calumet Avenue and Summer Street, the First Christian Church was one of the first churches built in Hammond.

My grandmother (Helen Morton) and grandfather (Charles Barnes) was the second couple to be married in this church. Helen was the daughter of Hammond's first Fire Department Chief, Frank Leslie Morton.
